Immunogen Design

The current EuroVacc immunogens are based on HIV-1 subtype C’/B. Subtype C is prevalent in China, India and sub-Saharan Africa, and constitutes more than 50 percent of the HIV infections worldwide. Subtype B is the most prevalent subtype in Europe.

All EuroVacc vaccine candidates contain identical genes for Env and GagPolNef. The gene cassettes have been codon optimised and designed for optimal expression levels combined with extensive safety features (mutations) in relevant gene fragments.
